We are able to produce most of the original manufacturer colours of the SSANGYONG brand, thanks to our matching system and our rich database, which includes more than a hundred references.
Ordering online is quick and easy: simply enter the SSANGYONG colour code in the box provided at the "basket" step. You may also send us your colour code or the SSANGYONG colour name by email after placing your order.
If you are unsure of your paint reference, just send us the information you have by email, and we will immediately check the validity of your paint reference.
For all orders placed before 3 p.m., the SSANGYONG paint is produced immediately and shipped for next-day delivery.
We strongly recommend that you take the necessary time to read, study, and understand the product page where you will choose your packaging. This page includes all the technical guides needed for a successful paintwork project.
Most SSANGYONG manufacturer paints today are pearlescent or metallic colours. This means they must be produced in a special version, which is now used by all bodywork painters and even automotive manufacturers. This version is called two-coat paint, or 1K basecoat.
These two designations refer to a single-component paint (i.e. it does not contain a hardener) which is applied with a spray gun and dries very quickly through air evaporation. The term two-coat means that the paintwork is carried out in two stages: first the application of the basecoat, then the application of the Topcoat (bodywork clearcoat).
Old 2K paints are hardly used any more. Modern colours no longer allow the formulation of 2K paints with hardener.
Therefore, if your bodywork is pearlescent or metallic, go to the SSANGYONG paint product page for 1K basecoat. You will of course need to know your SSANGYONG colour code. Choose your packaging, i.e. the volume of paint you wish to order.
Allow approximately 250 ml per 1 m² of bodywork to be painted.
SSANGYONG car paints are available already diluted for all small formats.
We also offer kits that include undiluted paint with thinner supplied separately.
Please remember that basecoats must be varnished. For this, you will need a bodywork Topcoat (clearcoat), which must be applied to your SSANGYONG colour code within a short time, without sanding — between 10 and 25 minutes maximum after applying the basecoat — to ensure perfect adhesion between the layers and to avoid any risk of future peeling.
SSANGYONG is a South Korean car manufacturer founded in 1954.
Based in South Korea, the brand built its reputation as a manufacturer of pick-up trucks, SUVs and off-road vehicles, all at highly affordable prices.
The meaning of the Korean brand name is "Double Dragon."
The company originally specialised in the production of lorries and buses.
It was in the 1980s that the SSANGYONG group began to focus more on passenger car production. It later partnered with Mercedes-Benz for certain technological innovations. The aim was to support SSANGYONG’s technological development, while Mercedes gained market share in South Korea in return.
In 1988, the brand was acquired by the Korean giant Daewoo, which later sold it in 2022 to the KG Group, following financial difficulties and bankruptcy.
If you're looking for the colour code of your SSANGYONG car, note that it is always located on the bodywork itself, and never in the vehicle documents.
If you cannot find it in the locations listed below, we recommend checking dedicated online forums for the brand or contacting your local dealer.
For SSANGYONG vehicles, the colour code plate (VIN plate) can be found in three possible locations:
- Inside the engine compartment
- On the driver’s side door pillar
- On the rear hatch
You can also refer to the images below illustrating these locations.
The colour code always consists of three characters (letters or numbers).
There are no truly iconic colours in the SSANGYONG range. However, here are some examples that illustrate how SSANGYONG colour codes are constructed, along with their associated names. Note that many of the colour names are in Korean — and sometimes, the colour name is the code. Fortunately, some are also in English.
