For reasons of accuracy of the original tint, the formula is made with a minimum of 250 ml. For example : a Honda or Yamaha motorcycle color code can include in its formula tint doses of 0.1 g / L, which gives only 0.025g per 250 ml.
Motorcycle color code paints are available either pure (to be diluted) for large formats, or ready to use, i.e. already diluted.
Our two dedicated technicians have a very complete database, listing the color formulas of the manufacturers' brands created over the last 50 years. This knowledge base is updated by internet every day. It is therefore supplemented and enriched with the new colors arriving on the market each year.
Our paints are essentially 1K "two-coat*" basecoats, supplied pure with their thinner (in kit form), or pre-diluted. The "two-component gloss" versions are very rare in the "two-wheeler" world.
Sometimes the paints are "tri-coat", in this case it is our technician who confirms this and explains the procedure to follow and the products to choose. We manufacture and ship the color the same day of the order for a 48 hours delivery to your home !
When a color is unknown in the base or when the reference exists but the formula is not given, we commit ourselves to giving an answer within 24 hours with our Colorimetry service.
We just need the shade reference. In the case of a "two-wheeler", this is a series of numbers or letters, followed by a "color name", often in English, sometimes in Italian. Simply give it after ordering by e-mail.
It is only possible for our colorist to formulate the paint with these two pieces of information. The mention of the model or the year is useless.
If you don't have any information about the paint, ask for it from your dealer or the brand's website, or consult the specialized forums on the web.
For example, what does a Honda color code look like ?
Motorcycle color codes consist of one or two letters, followed by numbers :
For any verification request, write to our technician : colorimetrie@stardustcolors.com and receive a reply the same day.
When the formula is unknown, we can countertype it in our color laboratory, from a part of the motorcycle or from a HONDA or YAMAHA color "patch".
Our color lab is located in Italy, and has 15 people who work daily to countertype and list motorcycle paint formulas from all over the world. The Urki Mix Pro database contains thousands of motorcycle color codes to date.
*bi-coat: This is a painting technique that consists of two coats : mono-component 1K paint and bi-component 2K paint.
Do not confuse "two-coat" and 2C.
"2K" refers to two components (2K paints).
"1 K" refers to a one-component paint (1K Basecoat).
A 1K paint cannot have excellent resistance. Only a paint with a two-component hardener can guarantee true strength.
Mainly using the "Candy" technique, three-coat color codes bring some additional complications and expenses, with the result of exceptional colors.
These use transparency to color the light :
There is a third coat, which changes the classic two-coat system to a three-coat system : generally, it is the addition of a first base paint, either colored (opaque red), or clear (white), or metallic and reflective.
On top of this, a second coat is applied, always transparent, colored and/or pearly, then of course the indispensable glossy and transparent varnish.
