Our processes always involve an undercoat (gloss and hard lacquer), the first stage before chrome plating. Chrome paint is never in direct contact with the substrate. This metallic coat is then protected ("sandwiched") by a topcoat which provides protection.
After paint application or metallisation, it offers a perfect imitation of gloss metal (70 to 80% effect for the paint option, and 100% for the chemical silvering option). The metallisation effect obtained with chrome paint provides real mirror effect and represents an extraordinary technical achievement, given the simplicity of its realisation.
For the two chrome-plating solutions that we propose, the result depends essentially on the gloss and the hardness of the undercoat on which will lie perfectly flat, all the metal micro-particles.
We remind that these are essentially decorative techniques, which cannot replace the extreme resistance of real chrome obtained through galvanizing.
Known for a century, chrome plating and metallising by silvering process, also known as the silver mirror, applies the reduction of silver nitrate to create a thin 0.1μm thick metal film. This process gives a 100% chromium plating appearance. It is applied by spraying products thinned in water to a gloss background.
Made popular by StardustColors, the chrome paints are made from ultra-fine aluminum particles with perfectly flat and regular shape. These products should be preferably applied with a pneumatic spray gun on a gloss substrate.
