You are looking for paint made to the Toyota colour code, and in this category below you will find two different types of paint, as well as a complete kit. Here are a few explanations regarding the difference between these two types of Toyota manufacturer paint.
The first is used in 90% of cases: it is known as two-coat paint or basecoat paint to be varnished. This is the option to choose for all modern pearlescent or metallic Toyota shades.
The second is a 2K paint, often referred to in the trade as direct gloss paint. This paint is supplied with a hardener; it is two-component. It is suitable for all older colours and solid opaque colours but is not suitable for modern colours which contain special pigments.
The terms "two-coat" and "two-component" can sometimes be confusing. They actually designate two completely different systems: in the first case, 1K basecoat followed by Topcoat; in the second case, 2K paint with hardener, where the paint itself forms the final gloss finish and no Topcoat is required.
We refer to two-coat paint when the process involves two stages – basecoat, followed by Topcoat (bodywork clearcoat). In contrast, 2K paint is applied in a single stage, since it contains a hardener and offers a combined paint and clear finish, providing a durable result.
Perhaps you have already found the paint colour code for your vehicle ? In that case, we invite you to send it to us by email at colors@stardustcolors.com so that we can verify its validity and confirm whether we have it in our database. In fact, it sometimes happens that rare or very recent colour codes have not yet been identified or formulated into usable recipes.
If you have not yet located your paint reference, we will explain below where you can find it.
Regarding Toyota paint offers, we supply all formats from the smallest, i.e. 250 ml ready-to-use, to the complete 1L kit of pure paint supplied with thinner. In this latter case, the pure paint must be diluted to around 70%.
For those who do not have a spray gun and prefer to paint easily and quickly, we also offer aerosol format paints. We fill these aerosols with paints matched to Toyota colour codes. Each paint order is prepared on the day of the order, which means a custom formulation matched exactly to the Toyota colour code by our paint specialist. Please note that returns of made-to-order paints are not accepted under our terms and conditions.
Yields :
The yield of a paint indicates the amount required. This is the surface coverage in square metres for 1 litre and for a single coat. In general, two coats are required, so you must divide the coverage figure by two to calculate the final coverage.
For example, if 1 litre covers 10 m² in a single coat, then you will need 1 litre to paint 5 m² with two coats.
When we talk about 1 litre of paint, we mean ready-to-use paint. A ready-to-use Toyota paint is paint mixed with thinner, or paint mixed with hardener and thinner in the case of a 2K paint version.
Toyota Motor Corporation is a Japanese company founded in 1937.
The company takes its name from the family of its founder, Kiichiro Toyoda. In reality, the Toyota company existed long before, but it was the son of the founder who, in 1937, decided to convert his father’s loom factory into an automobile manufacturing business. The first attempt to produce an engine was made in the factory in 1936, when the company was still called Toyota Industries.
After World War II, Toyota benefited greatly from the transfer of expertise and knowledge through its partnerships with the USA. The company is governed with exceptional intelligence and employs a unique system – akin to a philosophy – of technical and logistical management between suppliers and customers.
In the 1960s, Toyota capitalised on the rapid growth of the Japanese economy. The rise in private car ownership among the middle classes propelled the brand rapidly among the world’s largest car manufacturers.
Toyota built its reputation on extreme reliability, robust and durable engines and components, and low fuel consumption. Toyota is also a global leader in hybrid vehicles. Today, the Japanese company offers nearly forty hybrid models. The most famous is the Toyota Prius, introduced in 1997. Today, Toyota is one of the three largest car manufacturers in the world, with record annual sales of 10 million vehicles.
Do you know its colour code? It is essential for producing your Toyota paint! We can help you locate it.
For Toyota vehicles, the VIN plate indicating the colour code can be found in four possible locations:
– Inside the engine compartment
– Between the two doors on the right-hand side (passenger side)
– Between the two doors on the left-hand side (driver side)
– On the left front door pillar (driver side)
You can refer to the images provided below to help locate it.
The colour code or name is not shown on the vehicle identification card.
The Toyota paint colour code is always composed of three digits. However, many modern codes include up to six characters, combining numbers and letters.
Here is an example:
11BK02 BLACK TOYOTA/LEXUS 1998 – 2004
The colours of the Japanese brand form a database of several hundred colour codes.
Naturally, it is not possible to search for a colour code by model or year alone. For example, a black shade may correspond to thirty different colour codes covering similar periods and various Toyota vehicle models.
The new pearlescent and deep colours are a particular feature of the Lexus luxury range, which is also included in the colour database.
Here are some examples of Toyota colour codes, showing the standard format of the colour code, followed by the name of the colour, and then the years of creation and usage:
