Among the colour codes of American cars, we find the KIA car colour codes, which follow an international coding system that all manufacturers across the five continents have adopted. But what exactly is a KIA colour code? For example: AAV - this code corresponds to a beige white created in 2015. KIA colour codes can vary in format: some have two characters, other three, combining either letters or a mix of letters and numbers.
Once you locate the colour code somewhere on a specific area of your vehicle's bodywork, you can easily order the exact matching paint for your KIA depending on its year and model. These colours are developed within the manufacturer's design office.
If you're unsure where to find the code, refer to the next paragraph - or simply ask your local body painter. Professionals can usually locate the code within minutes by checking specific parts of the car.
Sometimes things can get complicated, for example when several original manufacturer references exist for the same code. Fortunately, there's always a second form of verification : the name of the colour.
In the world of car paintwork, the rules are simpler than in the motorcycle one, where some colours require a specific undercoat or are applied in three separate layers.
When ordering KIA paint as an individual, sellers will typically offer you a solvent-based paint rather than water-based. Solvent-based automotive paint is easier and faster to apply. It is available in various packagings and versions: either pure, pre-deluted, or in aerosols or cans. One particularity of KIA paint codes is that the manufacturer has not consistently named the colours. In many cases, the code is not accompanied by a descriptive name, making it less practical to identify the shade at a glance.
KIA's history dates back further than many believe - the company was founded in 1944. Its name comes from its founder, John Kia Key. At first, he produced steel parts and accessories for bicycles, and the company was primarily involved in motorcycle production. In 1971, KIA entered the automotive world in partnership with Fiat, initially assembling Fiat models for the Korean market. With gained experience, it quickly began producing vehicles under its own brand, becoming KIA Motors.
Its success grew rapidly, fuelled by collaboration with international manufacturers such as FORD. After facing financial hardship, the company was acquired by Hyundai in 1997. Today, KIA is widely recognised for producing economical, comfortable, and reliable hybrid and conventional vehicles and is particularly well-established in Europe.

For KIA brand vehicles, the plate indicating the colour code (VIN plate) can be found in three locations:
- Inside the engine bay, under the bonnet, on the engine or near the radiator.
- On the rear door frame, right or left side (driver or passenger).
- In the boot, near the rear left headlight or on the inner side of the boot door.
The code is always composed of three characters (letters or numbers). You can refer to the images provided below to help locate it.
The KIA database is impressively fast. This Korean manufacturer has created a very long list of references over the past 50 years. KIA colours are often original and vibrant, perfectly aligning with the brand's dynamic design identity. Here are some emblematic Kia colour codes :
