You want to order a Cadillac paint job in its original stock colour and take it to your local body shop - or even apply it yourself? Both options are possible, and ordering your paint according to American car colour codes - and in this case, Cadillac colour codes - is extremely simple and fast on our website.
First, you must find your Cadillac colour code. Without it, we cannot retrieve the formula to prepare your paint. We explain how to locate this code in the following paragraphs.
To order your paint based on the Cadillac colour code, simply go to the 1K basecoat product page, then select the desired quantity and packaging format.
Please note that the packaging may vary in both volume and type, as we offer Cadillac paints in cans (for spray gun application, whether you are doing it yourself or hiring a professional) and in aerosols (for DIY use at home, in your garage or garden). In the latter case, we provide some useful tips below.
Would you prefer to order a 2K paint (direct gloss) ? Please note that these polyurethane paints can only be prepared in 2K version if the colour is solid (opaque), without metallic or pearlescent effects. All colours with pigment particles (metallic or pearl) are only available as 1k basecoats to be finished with a topcoat. This means a two-stage process: paint first, then clearcoat. It requires slightly more effort, but application is easier and results are aesthetically superior.
Each colour reference consists of a code (letters or numbers), and a color name. If you don't have this information, we cannot retrieve the corresponding formula.
Our colour matching department requires precise identification - we cannot run searches based on vehicle model, production year, usage manual or photographs.
Paint orders are prepared on the same day they are placed — meaning each formula is mixed specifically for you. Products are dispatched the same day.
Due to the custom nature of the product, returns or exchanges are not possible under our terms and conditions of sale.
To find your Cadillac colour code, please refer to the next section.
If you're planning to carry out a touch-up on your Cadillac - such as on a wing, door, or bumper - you may use spray cans or a spray gun. We always recommand spray gun use as it is more economical and provides smoother application.
That said, our Cadillac spray paints are formulated for professional-grade quality, thanks to the precise code-matched formulation and our two-component aerosol clearcoat - a genuine professional topcoat.
To get the best results, choose a warm, calm, wind-free day. Lightly wet the surroundings (floor, walls, etc. within 5 to 10 meters) with water. This traps airborne dust and prevents it from settling on the paint.
Even if a few dust particles remain on the clearcoat, these can be easily corrected with a quick polish after drying.
The Cadillac brand was founded by former associates of Henry Ford, following internal disagreements within the early automotive pioneers who created the Ford brand. The first Cadillacs made available to the public dates back to 1902. Cadillac is an American brand and a division of General Motors (GM). Cadillac has a limited presence among the 165 countries of the world, with most of its market concentrated in three countries: the United States, Canada, and China. It is a luxury brand and one of the earliest car manufacturers in automotive history — with roots going back to 1897. Did you know? Its name comes from Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac, the French founder of the city of Detroit.
Cadillac was acquired by General Motors in 1909. By then, the company had already gained recognition for innovation in the luxury vehicle sector. Cadillac pioneered the use of interchangeable parts between vehicle models — a concept that led to the mass production model of the modern automotive industry. It is also known for its precision manufacturing, V8 engines, and its extravagant body designs. After World War II, Cadillac’s style became bolder and more personalised, with models featuring shapes reminiscent of the Batmobile. Designers showed great creativity, incorporating extensive chrome elements. Today, Cadillac vehicles in Europe are mostly SUVs — such as the STS and CTS, some fitted with powerful V8 engines. The XT6, launched in 2019, represents a mid-range SUV aimed at the European market, which tends to favour more fuel-efficient engines.
Where to find the colour code of your Cadillac ?
For Cadillac vehicles, the VIN plate containing the paint code can be found in up to five different locations, depending on the model (see note below) :
- Inside the glove box
- In the spare wheel compartment
- In the boot
- On the right-side firewall
- On the right rear door
Refer to the visual guides below for help locating it.
The colour code always consists of three characters (letters or numbers).
*(Depending on the model, you may find a white or silver-white sticker. For two-tone vehicles, there may be two separate stickers in two different places.).
Reminder : Our 2-litre Cadillac paint kits are sold in pure form. They must be diluted (between 50% and 100% depending on the spray technique).
For 250 ml and 500 ml formats, the paint is already diluted and ready to use.
Since Cadillac was acquired by General Motors, its colour codes have been integrated into GM's central database. If you've found one or more colour references but have any doubts, feel free to contact us by email, We'll confirm whether the code matches a Cadillac colour, usually on the same day.
You may also contact your local dealer. Don't look for the paint information on the vehicle identification card - it is never listed there.
We can also advise you on the most suitable clearcoat and primer based on you intented use.
We offer a variety of clearcoats in different formats, including aerosols and mini kits. As for primers, we stock both thick fillers and fast-drying thin versions. Painting a Cadillac vehicle requires professional care - if you have any doubts, please contact us. We'll guide you in choosing the right product or combination of products for your project.
