Ordering is straightforward. All you need is your Saab colour code. If you’re unsure, refer to the section below to learn how to locate it on your vehicle.
To proceed:
Go to the product page in this category titled Saab basecoat paint.
Select your preferred packaging (details on coverage are given in the next paragraph).
After ordering, email your colour reference to us.
Our colourists will prepare and dispatch your order the same day if placed before 3 p.m.
Additional products you may need alongside your Saab paint:
Accessories (abrasives, tack cloths, conical filters, etc.)
Primer: required only if the bodywork is damaged or not smooth.
Topcoat: mandatory for all Saab 1K basecoats.
All modern paints (post-2000) are metallic or pearlescent. As such, they must be formulated as 1K basecoats. A 2K paint is not suitable for these finishes.
Our solvent-based paints offer distinct advantages over the water-based versions used in body shops:
• Ultra-fast drying and sag-resistance
• Easy application and sanding
• Long-term durability (up to 20 years)
• Extended shelf life
Note: Solvent-based paints do emit fumes—use a mask and work in a ventilated area.
Coverage performance:
1L of thinned paint covers 8–10 m² in one coat. As two coats are needed, the yield is around 4–5 m² per litre.
Application should be done in multiple thin layers, without waiting long between coats. The varnish must be applied within 20–30 minutes to ensure proper adhesion.
The history of the Swedish manufacturer Saab began as a result of an initiative by the Swedish government, which sought to establish a national company capable of supporting the development of an air force to protect the country in the coming years. In its early days, the company’s primary focus was aeronautics, especially the construction of military aircraft.
Founded in 1937, during a period of great geopolitical uncertainty leading up to the Second World War, Saab was initially dedicated to defence needs. However, with the end of the war and the resulting decline in military aircraft demand, the company’s leadership decided to diversify its activities in order to ensure its survival. From 1947 onwards, Saab turned its attention to the automotive sector, investing all its efforts into designing and manufacturing vehicles.
The brand met with significant success: by 1973, Saab had reached the milestone of one million vehicles produced and sold worldwide. Known for their innovative engineering and robust safety features, Saab cars quickly developed a loyal following, particularly in Europe and North America.
However, Saab began facing difficulties in the early 21st century, especially following the 2008 financial crisis. The company entered a period of restructuring and was eventually put up for sale. It was then acquired by a Dutch-Russian group called Spyker Cars, in the hopes of reviving the brand.
The colour code is not listed on the registration card. Instead, check the following locations on the vehicle:
- Inside the glove compartment
- On the driver-side door pillar
The code typically consists of three characters (sometimes four). Refer to the images below for exact locations.
While Saab does not have a singular iconic colour, lighter shades—especially white—have always been popular among customers.
