In this article, we'll explain the essentials of Iveco automotive paintwork, and specifically the colour codes of European vehicles, including Iveco colour codes. Unlike modern passenger vehicles - where metallic and pearlescent finishes dominate - commercial vehicles like those produced by IVECO often feature simple opaque colours.
In fact, 50% of IVECO vehicles use solid colours without metallic flakes. These are known as opaque colors, which are made solely from colour pigments - no pearl or aluminum particles. White is the most prevalent colour in the brand's wide range of commercial paint references.
However, in recent years, metallic finishes have started to appear in some utility models.
How to Choose the Right Paint ?
To simplify your choice, remember the following:
If your IVECO paint is metallic or pearlescent, go to the “1K basecoat” product page.
If your paint is opaque, go to the “2K paint” page.
Each version of paint has a specific application method.
But first, here’s how to order:
Choose the desired quantity of paint. Enter your colour code in the provided field during checkout. If you miss it, simply send your code by email after placing the order. To help identify your IVECO colour reference, refer to the VIN plate as explained below.
Application Methods Based on Paint Type:
For an opaque IVECO colour code (e.g. pure white):
Use a 2K paint with hardener — no clearcoat required. Apply two glossy coats, spaced 10 minutes apart. Full curing takes 24 hours.
For a metallic or pearlescent IVECO colour code (e.g. aluminium grey):
Apply several thin, even coats of 1K basecoat. Within 30 minutes, apply two coats of Topcoat (clearcoat).
2K metallic paints are not available for IVECO colour codes.
The History of the IVECO Brand
Iveco stands for Industrial Vehicle Corporation. It was founded in 1975 from a merger between German, French and Italian manufacturers.
In just 45 years, the brand has developed nearly 200 different models of commercial vehicles - its core focus.
IVECO's turbo diesel engine is one of its landmark innovations, made famous through the 4x4 model used in Commander Cousteau's expedition.
Today, IVECO operates major manufacturing plants in China, Russia, Australia, Latin America, and Europe. Its commercial service network covers over 160 countries.
For IVECO vehicles, the VIN plate indicating the colour code is located:
Inside the engine bay.
The IVECO colour code is always composed of three digits. Despite being a commercial vehicle manufacturer, IVECO maintains an extensive colour database with over 450 paint references.
Each order is custom-prepared daily by our technician. Please observe proper safety and storage instructions for solvent-based paints.
IVECO's colour codes follow a surprisingly simple and logical numerical sequence, usually from 001 to 100.
To comply with automotive industry standards, every code is paired with a colour name, used as double verification to avoid errors or misidentification.
Here are a few examples :
Colour code / Colour Name / brand / Years of use
037 BEIGE ANTILOPE IVECO 1985 - 1986
037 ZINKGELB RAL 1018 IVECO 1987 - 2021
038 BEIGE LIBIA IVECO 1985 – 2021
