In our category dedicated to the Jaguar colour codes, the ordering process is very simple: you just need to select the desired packaging and specify the Jaguar colour code by email after after placing your order.
You will therefore need to choose between "aerosol" or "can", and for the latter, there is a choice between different volumes: the smaller formats are pre-thinned paints, while the larger 1-litre format consists of pure paint supplied as a kit with its thinner.
When you choose pure paint, it is concentrated and thick. No hardener required since this is a 1K basecoat to be clearcoated. However, it must be thinned by adding between 50% and 100% thinner, in order to achieve the correct viscosity to pass through your spray gun and to be applied in fine coats.
Modern paints essentially use pearlescent or metallic pigments. They are particularly easy to apply, provided you follow the simple rule of spraying very fine coats. These very thin coats dry almost immediately, so two or three coats can be applied in succession without waiting more than a minute. It is essential to work in a moderated warm environment, ideally between 15 and 25°C, and in a clean space with minimal dust - easily achievable by wetting the floor and walls beforehand.
Paints manufactured using Jaguar colour codes are now very rarely offered as 2K paints. What we refer to in professional bodywork as 2K paints have become largely obsolete for this marque. Modern Jaguar colour are almost exclusively available as metallic or pearlescent finishes, and must therefore be supplied in the form of 1K basecoats to be clearcoated.
What happens when you apply a 2K pearlescent paint ? Quite simply: all the micro-particles - whether pearlescent or aluminium-based - tend to shift and settle during the curing process. This is why the modern two-stage process (applying a 1K basecoat followed immediately by a Topcoat) is not only more stable but also results in significantly higher quality.
Alongside the Italians, the British have always been specialists in luxury motoring.
Jaguar was founded in 1922 and has specialised in passenger vehicles from the outset. During the Second World War, its factories were requisitioned to support the war effort, temporarily suspending vehicle manufacturing. The company remained an independant family business until 1966, when it was nationalised. In 1984 it was floated on the stock exchange, and in 1989 it was acquired by the American automotive giant Ford.
Jaguar is known for its luxury saloons, but also for its success in racing. The marque has participated in many competitions, including seven victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Jaguar has also had a strong presence in Formula 1 over the years.
Today, the Jaguar brand is enjoying excellent growth and has been consistently breaking sales records over recent years.
