You want to place an order for a paint from the manufacturer MBK, then go to the page below, where you can select the packaging of your choice for all the colour codes of European motorcycles, especially the MBK motorcycle colour codes.
We produce a wide range of MBK colour codes and supply paint either in aerosols or in cans. Ordering online is quick and easy. Simply choose the volume of MBK paint (from 0.25L to 1L), then send the code by email (info@stardustcolors.com).
To calculate your requirement, it’s simple: you need 250 ml for a maximum surface of 1m² or a bicycle frame. For a complete small scooter, 500 ml is needed. To be on the safe side, it is always better to order 1 litre.
The paints we prepare belong to the family of solvent-based paints. This is the highest possible quality, formerly used by bodywork professionals before the emergence of new water-based paints. These paints offer a long lifespan of around 20 years. They provide extremely fast drying and ultra-thin layers. They are much easier to apply than water-based paints.
Depending on the format selected, they are supplied either already diluted, or pure — in which case a thinner is supplied separately.
These paints are 1K basecoats. Their application is simple. Even beginners in the use of spray guns or aerosols can easily apply this type of paint. For proper application, you simply need to spray several very thin coats. Light coats are applied until the background is covered and the optimum colour appears. Then, the Topcoat (bodywork clearcoat) must be applied immediately to ensure perfect adhesion with the basecoat.

When applying paint to a scooter fairing or a bicycle frame, you must always ensure that the surface is perfectly smooth. There may be surface irregularities due to paint layers, adhesive lines or logos...
When stickers or logos are present, they are generally located under the Topcoat. In such cases, you must sand the clearcoat to reach the sticker, then heat it using a hairdryer or heat gun to remove it. Several coats of primer can then be applied to fill the indentation left behind. Sanding will ensure a perfectly smooth surface before painting.
Sanding is a crucial step. It should neither be too coarse nor too fine. If the grit is too coarse (below 320), sanding marks will appear on the paint. If too fine (above 600), the paint adhesion will be reduced. The correct grit for bodywork paint sanding is 500.
Depending on your MBK colour code, a specific primer colour may be recommended. In such cases, you’ll need to order one of our five primers available in can or aerosol: we offer three shades of grey, one white and one black.
Some MBK manufacturer colours may require a specific undercoat. This type of MBK paint is called a three-coat paint. It involves applying two different layers of paint, followed by a Topcoat.
The final step is the application of the Topcoat. This is the most delicate phase, as the final gloss finish depends on it. If too much Topcoat is applied, runs may appear. Conversely, if there is not enough Topcoat, the surface may look dull and develop what’s known as “orange peel” defects.
The Topcoat must be applied within 30 minutes of applying the basecoat. Beyond that, the basecoat must be sanded again — which is not recommended for metallic or pearlescent paints.
The history of the manufacturer MBK
MBK Motorcycles is a French manufacturer of motorcycles, scooters and bicycles. It was founded in 1924.
That year, the first motorcycle prototype was created by three partners. The workshop, located in Pantin (Seine-Saint-Denis), was then known as “Les Ateliers Motobécane”. In the following years, up to 1930, several models were produced with increasing engine capacities, reaching 300cc — though speeds were limited to 30 km/h, in accordance with the regulations in force at that time.
In 1929, regulations were relaxed, and the French manufacturer began producing real motorcycles with engines of up to 750cc. Ten years later, MBK gained notoriety by participating in several motorcycle races and Grand Prix, just before World War II, which naturally brought an end to its racing activities until the post-war era.
In 1986, MBK was acquired by the Yamaha group and thus became a subsidiary of the Japanese group.
In 2002, new regulations struck the small French manufacturer (then recently acquired by Yamaha), as it became forbidden to manufacture or market mopeds.
In 2012, Yamaha decided to concentrate its production on the French site in Picardy and to shut down its Spanish factory in Barcelona. By 2014, production was relocated to Thailand to reduce costs and consolidate the group’s operations on a single site.
Where to find the colour code of your MBK motorcycle ?
As with most motorcycles, scooters and bicycles, it is pointless to look for a colour code on the frame, chassis or fairing, since — unlike cars — colour references for motorcycles or bicycles are much harder to find.
Unless you have the original logbook for the motorcycle or bicycle, the information may be obtained through an MBK dealer or the manufacturer’s official website.
If these options fail, your last chance might be to consult online forums or groups dedicated to MBK — which often contain helpful information shared by enthusiasts.
As for us, we can only help you confirm and verify codes that you already have. We can also provide a list of codes available in our database — but this list won’t help unless you already know which one matches your MBK.
The emblematic colours of MBK motorcycles
MBK motorcycle colour codes generally start with the letters “MB”. There may be a few exceptions to this format.
Like all other scooter and motorcycle brands, each colour code is always associated with a colour name. This ensures cross-checking and reduces the risk of errors.
Although MBK is a French brand, all paint colour names are in English. Here are a few examples of MBK paint codes and shades :
