Paints used on scooters are no different from automotive and motorcycle paints. The manufacturer paint system also uses the colour codes of European motorcycles and, in our case, the colour codes of Peugeot vehicles to designate the various paints, depending on brand, model, and year.
We offer mixing of all paints according to the Peugeot motorcycle and scooter colour code. Our paints are solvent-based* and are available in 400 ml aerosols and also in cans from 250 ml.
In contrast to water-based paints, solvent-based paints use flammable solvents.
In addition to Peugeot motorcycle and scooter paints, we can also supply primers and Topcoats, in matt or gloss finishes.
To place your order online, you must first know the Peugeot motorcycle or scooter colour code, then go to the product page below, select one of the available packaging formats, and proceed to the basket page, where you will find a field in which to enter your paint reference. You can also email us the colour reference immediately after placing your order.
If any additional information is needed — for example, a special undercoat — or to verify details, we will contact you by phone before preparing your paint. All our paints are prepared immediately upon receipt of the order. In general, orders are delivered within 24 hours.
Peugeot motorcycle and scooter colour codes
There are a great number of colour references for this French scooter and motorcycle manufacturer. Modern paints often incorporate pearlescent or aluminium flakes to create pearlescent or metallic finishes. This type of paint is only available in a single-component version. In the jargon of bodywork professionals, these are known as two-coat paints or "1K basecoats".
This type of paint is very easy to apply, either with a spray gun or using an aerosol spray can. If you are new to this field, don't worry — this type of painting is very easy to do. The correct technique is simply to apply very thin layers. The coats are applied one after another without waiting more than a minute between them, as these paints dry very quickly. Once the surface is completely covered, you can move directly to the next step, which is clearcoating.
Clearcoating Peugeot motorcycle and scooter paints is always done using an acrylic polyurethane Topcoat (bodywork clearcoat). This is a 2K product, i.e., it includes a hardener. In the case of aerosol versions, the spray can features a built-in hardener compartment. Acrylic Topcoats offer maximum resistance to weathering, detergents, and hydrocarbons. They do not yellow over time and retain an excellent gloss, effectively protecting the paint.
Our Peugeot scooter and motorcycle paints are of professional quality. They are guaranteed to last twenty years without any deterioration of colour.
Of course, to successfully complete a paint project on your Peugeot scooter, you must pay particular attention to the preparation phase. There is no need to strip the surface, and in some cases, even primer may not be necessary. What is important is to sand the surface with 500 grit abrasive. The substrate must be smooth and sound, meaning it must be degreased, dust-free, dry, and free of any impurities.
The history of the Peugeot scooter and motorcycle manufacturer
The French company Peugeot is one of the pioneers in motorcycle history. It was in 1898 that the first motorbike rolled out of the Peugeot factories. This first motorbike, the ancestor of all future models, featured an engine mounted on the rear wheel. It was a one-off prototype.
Three years later, Peugeot began serial production of its first motorcycles, which were equipped with 200cc engines. At the start of World War I in 1914, Peugeot was one of the world’s first companies to release a motorbike with a large 500cc engine — remarkable for that era.
Unlike many other French and European manufacturers, Peugeot was one of the few to invest seriously in the motorcycle sector. In 1930, the company acquired Automoto, one of the leading motorcycle and scooter manufacturers. Peugeot thus became a true specialist, developing increasingly efficient models that gained global recognition. Notably, the brand broke world records, including a 3,000 km endurance ride at average speeds approaching 120 km/h.
After the era of mopeds, scooters ushered in a new chapter in transport — a new design and concept that was hugely successful across Europe, especially in Italy with Vespa scooters. Scooters are practical, equipped with small engines, and ideal for urban commuting.
In 2014, Peugeot Scooters was partially acquired by an Indian group. The PSA Group retained a significant shareholding until 2019, when it sold all its remaining shares to the Indian manufacturer.
Today, production is centred on two sites: one in France and one in China. Peugeot Scooters employs around 300 people worldwide.
Where to find the colour code of your Peugeot scooter or motorcycle ?
As with all scooters, it is not easy to determine the colour code. You won’t find any references on the bodywork. The chassis number or the scooter’s identification card offers no further help in this regard.
To obtain the paint reference, you must have the original booklet that comes with a new scooter purchase. You may also inquire at your dealership to request the colour reference.
If the dealer refuses or does not have access to the information, the only remaining option is to consult discussion forums. There are several Peugeot scooter forums where users share a wealth of information.
You can send us the information you have available, but please note that without an exact and precise colour code, it is very difficult to navigate among the hundreds of references listed in the Peugeot scooter paint database.
The emblematic colours of Peugeot scooters
The structure of Peugeot motorcycle paint codes varies, with different formats for each reference. Here are some examples from the Peugeot scooter paint database :
376 VERDE SCURO PEUGEOT MOTORCYCLES 1990 -
5000M ROUGE PEUGEOT MOTORCYCLES 1990 -
5001M GRENADE PEUGEOT MOTORCYCLES 1998 -
6000M VERDE PEUGEOT MOTORCYCLES 1990 -
7000M VIOLA PEUGEOT MOTORCYCLES 1990 -
7A ROUGE X-FIGHT PEUGEOT MOTORCYCLES 2002 -
Typically, there is always a colour code accompanied by a colour name. Either of these is enough to identify the correct formula. Each code corresponds to a paint that can be applied to various models and across different production years.
