A special spray gun allows, by means of pressurized air and a nozzle, to spray a liquid product in the form of a regular spray and to project it towards the surface.
A special tool is required when you want to spray a special product.
The product in question, when it is not a 2K paint, a primer, or a varnish, can be a thick product, such as "blaxon", or a powder product, such as flakes (Metal Flakes) or various powders (such as reflective microbeads), or liquid chemicals for silver plating for example.
For the projection of flakes, different types of simple and economical blasting tools are used, which work very well for sending large quantities of polyester flakes onto surfaces, adjusting the pressure to the minimum, of course.
In the field of custom painting, the term "Flakebuster" is used : flakebusters come in different sizes, from the "mini" to be connected to an airbrush, to the big flakebuster, which can be used to glitter a whole boat !
It is in the art of chrome-plating with chemicals that the most specific special spray guns are used : the liquid chemicals are sprayed onto the surface by means of special spray guns with double nozzles, which "mist" two different reagents that meet outside the gun.
For the mirror effect silver plating technique, it is not important to atomize the liquids : simple, effective and above all very economical sprayers made of plastic parts can be used, which do not guarantee any reaction with the highly sensitive components of the chemicals.
These are coarse and very economical tools, mounted with 1 cm nozzles! They are nothing like the precision tools that can be found in the art of airbrushing or car varnishing !
These guns are used to spray viscous and thick materials such as temporary or permanent anti-scratch coatings, or even products such as the Raptor that are used to protect 4x4 or truck bodies.
Every painter is reluctant to use the same spray gun to carry out all the different steps of his body painting work. Especially the primer spray gun, which is a coarse product that is painted in thick coats, and it is of little concern whether or not it contains dust or dry paint grains. A painter always uses a spray gun with a large nozzle of 1.7 to 2.5 mm, which is of lower quality and is reserved exclusively for spraying the various primers.
