Dichroic paints OPAL Waterbased version without solvent

Stardustcolors "OPAL" effect paint is also available in a water-based version.
It is a liquid and transparent paint, based on polyurethane acrylic without solvents, which creates a shiny and resistant finish.

Destination
Opal Hydro paint is perfectly UV and weather resistant
it is a fairly durable gloss finish.
It is suitable for architectural works, or works of art.
This paint can be polymerized with 3% of our H6 hardener in order to obtain a greater hardening.

Shine
It is possible to create a satin version to order, but reducing the gloss also reduces the effect of light reflection and the level of scintillation.

What is the Opal Effect?
This is an ultra-thin (10-50µm), transparent, and multicolored pearlescent paint effect, best imitating the colored reflections of certain seashells.
To be effective, this type of paint must be applied on a white background, or clear, With several layers. When the paint is dry, it is necessary to have a direct light source to make the pearls react, because these are colorless and invisible in the shade.

OPAL waterbased colors

Eleven Opal colors are offered on this page, with a standard range and a 'Quasar' range, which offers stronger light reflection and more intense color changes.

The dichroic optical phenomenon: The color does not come from a color pigment, on the contrary it is produced by the rebound of light on a particle, which will filter part of the color waves and return only some of them. On the other hand, the color returned to the eye of the observer will depend on the angle of observation, thanks to a unique specificity of these transparent pigments.

The app
All types of funds are suitable.
The background color can be white, however other pastel or gray colors can be used to achieve interesting effects.
The bottom must be smooth and prepared with P500 sanding.
Opal Hydro paint can be applied with a 1.5 mm gun preferably.
Depending on the size of the nozzle, it is possible to dilute with water (10% maximum).
Other application methods, such as roller or brush can be considered.
In all cases, it is advisable to practice several thin coats in order to distribute the transparent OPAL paint evenly. We recommend the application of several thin coats with a spray gun, then the application of a final glossy coat.
Depending on the ambient temperature, it is important to respect a certain drying time interval between each layer (between 5 min and 30 min)
