Chameleon are special paints that are visually amazing and appealing. They simulate the multicoloured shell of certain beetles (iridescent effects).

The colours shift varies from 2 to 4.

When walking around a Chameleon painted car, you can admire all its different shades.

The Deepfield sprays are made by StardustColors from the same paints that are sold to professionals and are intended for users who don't have professional tools or equipments.

Following closely the instructions as described on the spraycans is critical to achieve your project , even if you are not an experienced painter.

The ease and quality of use with a spray can't of course be compared to that of the work done with a spraygun.

How to apply chameleon spray ?

Three-stage process: (black background, chameleon coat and varnish)

BACKGROUND: The background must be black (paint or primer). (Our black paint in spray is available in the section  'Basecoats'). Do not use degreaser.

Other background color
It's possible to obtain very interesting color combinations by applying chameleon paints on backgrounds of colors other than black: the results vary greatly depending on the chameleon colors, and the background color which can be any color, among grays, blues, reds, yellows, fluorescent, etc… 

CHAMELEON: Just after having applied the dark paint, or after light sanding, spray thin coats in 4 to 5 quick passes (allow 30 to 60 seconds to dry between each (especially by cold weather). Do not apply thick coats.

VARNISHING: Right after 5 minutes and at the latest within 30 minutes, a varnish must be applied over (our varnish in spray is available under the section 'Clearcoat').  Varnish not only allows to protect your paint but also to activate and to help display the iridescence effect of the chameleons that have a matt finish after drying.  

Varnish is applied in 2 - 3 wet and lacquered coats. 

SPECIFICATION SHEET

Type of product: Solvent based paint (VOCS>420g/L)

DESTINATION : Car, bike, decoration, others

THEORICAL COVERAGE: 1 sqm / L

MIXING: Shake well before (at least during 1mn) and during use.

APPLICATION: On a black background, that is painted 30min before, or dry and sanded with P400/P500 SEC or  P800 wet. Do not use degreaser (potential incompatibility)

Number of coats : 4-5 quick passes. Allow 30-60 seconds between each pass.

DRYING AT 20°C: TOUCH DRY : 15mn

VARNISHING: Varnish with any type of automotive varnish (Visit our section 'Varnish') after 5 minutes and before 30 minutes.

 The application to the aerosol is much less easy than gun, we strongly recommend using our 'SPRAY CAN GRIP HANDLE'
