Fluorescent paints have the exceptional ability to reflect more light than they absorb (as they belong to the family of photoluminescent paints).
These are solvent-based, matt-finish paints designed for use on the bodywork of cars, motorbikes, jet skis, helmets and so on.
Thanks to their highly saturated colour, an object painted in fluorescent paint placed amongst other objects immediately catches the observer’s eye.
The fluorescent matt automotive bases we manufacture are single-component solvent-based paints (ready-to-use) designed to be clear-coated.
SPRAY APPLICATION: They are very easy to apply by spray gun (all nozzles) or even by airbrush, given their excellent flow, in just a few coats. They can be thinned with any type of thinner if required.
WHITE BASE: Given the semi-transparency of fluorescent colours, they must always be applied over a white base sanded to P320–P500 grit, using as many coats as possible.
The white base is available here in the Graphic range (GPH007)
Tip: It is recommended to apply the paint over a 2-component white primer, or over a white matt base coat to which 3–5% hardener has been added, to prevent the risk of cracking.
Adding 5% of any hardener to the fluorescent car paint allows for slower drying and better curing.
CLEAR COATS: it is essential to apply the clear coat within 5 to 20 minutes!
Stardust offers an extensive range of very high-quality clear coats in the automotive clear coat category

Longevity of fluorescent colours:
To extend the life of the colours, we strongly recommend applying our UV-protective clear coat (see the Car Paint section), which helps to protect and preserve the colours. Without UV protection, a fluorescent paint can lose its colour very quickly if exposed to direct sunlight.
The best way to preserve the intensity of the fluorescence for as long as possible is to apply as many coats of fluorescent paint as possible, to create a significant thickness.
LinaQuartz nano-ceramic protection is a powerful UV protector. Combined with an anti-UV clear coat, it provides double protection for fluorescent colours.
StardustColors also manufactures fluorescent paints in 1L and 5L formats
Interesting fact: according to a study, the colours most visible to the human eye during the day are YELLOW and ORANGE. Before nightfall, it is GREEN.
