Recommended application method
For the powdered mother-of-pearl spraying technique, we recommend applying it to a black background that has been sanded with P500 grit sandpaper.
Spray the pearlescent finish from a distance of 20 to 40 cm, at an angle of 30 to 60° to the surface. We recommend first applying a coat of REPAINT primer (for a maximum of five minutes) to ensure the pearlescent finish adheres properly to the surface.
Next, apply a glossy car polish to protect and bring out the pearlescent, iridescent effect.
Coverage of the sprayed mother-of-pearl powder: between 3 and 5 m²
Mixing in paints:
Automotive pearlescent powders can be used to create bespoke paints by mixing 4 per cent into a clear base, i.e. a single-component binder to be top-coated (HS for an iridescent effect or MS for a smoother finish).
The mixture can be enhanced with transparent Candy colourant to intensify or alter the colour without affecting the light-reflecting properties inherent in mother-of-pearl pigments.
