Floor Epoxy Resin

Mixture:

Must be very precise, in weight, with a scale.
The mixture must be very homogeneous.
For 1000g of resin, add:
- Hardener 4013: 550g
or
- Hardener 4015: 450g

(4015 is faster than the 4013. To apply over floors under European weather conditions, use the 4015 and under tropical climate use the 4013.)

Tips for applying the floor resin

> What is sandblasting?

If we talk about putting sand over the first layer of still fresh patching (Resin + sand), its to ensure that when the resin hardens, it will soak part of the sand and create a surface that provides a good adhesion for the tinted finish coat (resin + epoxy pigment). This is to prevent sanding.

> What is the usual final thickness for a home floor and how many passes?
Can we apply a single pass only?

First of all, a slab is required, which is dried for 28 days, then strip with 5% hydrochloric acid in water, brush to remove the laitances from the concrete, then rinse with clear water and dry. A coat of 1010/1014 Primer thinned to 50% by weight should be applied over the mixture. You can work the day after the tinted resin finish coat. You will need at least 1.1kg per square meter, but with 1.5kg/m2 you will be sure to totally immerse the small grains of sand that could stay on the surface after vacuuming. In the case of a primer layer and a finish coat, the floor must be level without defect; otherwise patch first on at least 2mm with the coat loaded with sand to properly level and cover the imperfections.

> Which is the most suitable packaging?

With 4010, it is often a 200kg barrel for industrial floors. For individuals on smaller surfaces, the big 30L jerry can is convenient to carry on site and in different rooms; it is also equipped with a plastic tap.

> What is consumption?

Depending on the surface to be treated, for a 20m2 room you will need 30kg of tinted resin for a consumption of 1.5kg/m2.
