This is one of the oldest and best-known effect paints, which is part of the texture effects for car paint and motorcycle paint and is called crackle effect paint. This product exists in pot and takes place in 2 phases, with the realization of the two different layers. It is also available in a crackle-effect paint spray. It's simple to make and hard to miss! It is possible to apply the crackle effect paint on metal, plastic or other primed materials.

How does this crack effect paint work? It is a question of taking advantage of the phenomenon of incompatibility between two layers of paint of different natures, which will cause a phenomenon of retraction of the layer above.

Cracks, more or less large, then form, which essentially depend on the thickness of the upper layer: the thicker it is, the larger the cracks will be.

Use a crackle-effect spray car paint

This paint is found in essentially decorative uses, to give a texture or a patina effect to the surfaces of a wide variety of objects. The product is often used to imitate worn leather and is very often found on carousel paints.

The advantages, in addition to its ease of implementation, are a very affordable price and speed of execution. This makes it the most used effect paint.

The crackle effect paint also offers the possibility of playing on the superimposed colors: For example, during the 2 phases you can choose very different colors to create maximum contrast.

There are very interesting tricks to create "lava" effects with the crackle effect spray paint, using orange or red fluorescent pigment to tint the bottom layer, as well as black to color the top layer .

Other ideas for the crackle effect

The Candy technique allows you to color and deepen the effect of relief and textures.
You can therefore, for example, use a white background, or pearly white, or even aluminum in layer 1, then cover with black layer 2.
Above, apply the Candy varnish in the color of your choice: the result is impressive.

Phospherescent or Chameleon crackle 

This is just an example, because the ideas and the possibilities of combinations are unlimited : we can therefore imagine a phosphorescent background (layer 1) or even a Chameleon background, or even thermochromic.
It is also possible to invert and put the color in layer 2, and keep a neutral background such as white, red or black...
