Exterior and interior wood paint and metal paintPaints for wood and metals

A paint is above all a resin diluted with solvents and this resin has particular properties that can be applied for an industrial paint for materials, both for metal and for wood. It should be understood that no paint, or rather let's say no resin, is specially dedicated to a particular material. The resin is always a natural or synthetic component, and it is intended, after numerous tests, for an application for which it shows the best properties.
In this field of chemistry, new applications are discovered every day. and new qualities, to the innumerable existing resins.
Paint for wood is a huge area in the paint industry, it is also in this area that we find paints as diverse as they are varied and always at very economical prices. For the field of painting on metal, the paints are a little different because water-based paints are rarely used as in the field of painting on wood, but here too, it is the most economical slice. among the paint families.

Metal paint and exterior and interior wood paint

Among these simple and economical industrial paints, there is a variety of glycero, nitrocellulose, or synthetic, or acrylic paints which are somewhat ambidextrous, that is to say, they are equally suitable for application on wood than on metals.

These are generally finishes that are above all resistant to the external elements. We are of course talking about bad weather, with their different aggression factors, which are in order water and humility, sun, heat, UV rays... and then abrasion and wear. time.
In the field of painting on wood, 90% of lacquers or varnishes are water-based products, while in the field of painting on metal, it is the opposite. There is also a big difference in the work of paint designers: you might think that wood painting techniques are simple, but if one day you visited a wood stain manufacturing company, you would understand that it there is a huge work of aging test, and also of designing colors and transparent tints, to modify the appearance of the woods.
This is very different from the field of metal painting where simple colors and good rust protection are simply required.

Exterior and interior wood paint and metal paintThe peculiarities of painting on wood

Wood drinks ! And yes, this is a particularity, because it is porous, it is very important to have a product that allows the wood to be impregnated and fixed, and the application must often be done in several layers.
Varnishes for wood provide protection from the rain, but at the same time allow the wood to breathe. It is absolutely inadvisable to apply coats of waterproof polyurethane solvent-based products all around a wood, as this would form blisters and detachments over time.
Wood paints, or more often varnishes, are products that can be applied with rollers, brushes, spray guns...

Paints for metal

Unlike wood, metal is never porous.
In our range of industrial paints, there are several references applicable to both wood and metal, and in both cases, the same role is played by the paint: protection against rain .
Of course, you can't use just any paint to paint metal, because it must above all adhere to the steel and also have an anti-corrosion power, it is an obligation.
We have written various articles about paint coatings on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, we invite you to discover them for more information.
