Camouflage base coat / Ghost interference effect / ST822 matt clear coat
The Military Ghost effect bike paint is an exclusive Stardust creation, designed as a multi-layer painting process. The combination of colours creates the overall visual effect, with the following steps:
► a military camouflage base coat (choose from 6003 / 6014 / 7043 / 7046)
► a pearlescent, iridescent clear coat with a choice of reflection
BC92 GREEN / BC93 ORANGE / BC94 RED / BC98 BLUE
► a ST822 matt topcoat (4° gloss)
Choice of colours: select from the drop-down menu

The final result features an original matt finish, in which the pearlescent effects remain subtle thanks to the matt topcoat. The bike’s surface then reveals a dual-tone effect with coloured reflections visible depending on the light and viewing angle, superimposed over the camouflage base colour.

Mixing and preparing the products
► The base paints and Ghost paints are already thinned and single-component: simply mix well before use
► The matt clear coat is an acrylic polyurethane that must be mixed with its hardener, by weight:
5 parts varnish + 1 part hardener + 1 part thinner
For the aerosol varnish, press the red button on the can to release the hardener, then shake vigorously.
Pot Life: use the mixture within a maximum of two hours
Application method
Find our full tutorial on painting a bike frame here
The surface (frame and bike components) must be properly prepared: clean, dry, sanded with P500 grit, degreased and dust-free.
Work at a temperature between 15 and 25°C.
♦ Step 1 – Apply two to three thin coats of RAL MILITAIRE base paint, allowing five minutes between each coat. Then apply Step 2 directly, wet-on-wet, within 30 minutes at 20°C. After this time, sanding with 500-grit paper will be necessary to restore adhesion.
♦ Step 2 – apply three thin coats of GHOST pearlescent interference paint, allowing five minutes between each coat. Then proceed directly to step 3 (clear coat) wet-on-wet within 30 minutes at 20°C. After this time, lightly sand with a fine grey abrasive sponge to restore adhesion.
♦ Step 3 – apply the matt varnish in two medium coats, leaving 10 to 15 minutes between coats.
Drying: allow 24 hours to dry before using the bike.
