The Iwata airbrush, probably the most sold and used airbrush in the world, and among the airbrushes for artistic drawing on canvas, it is clearly in the top 3 of the airbrushes of choice of the best international artists.
The ANEST IWATA brand is internationally renowned for its precise and accurate airbrushes. IWATA airbrushes also offer a wide range of different models that cater to beginners, intermediate painters and also airbrush virtuosos.
The price ranges are quite high and go from 100 to more than 500 euros for some models.
It can be noted that the technicality of these quality tools is accompanied by a certain complexity, with a very large number of components. Each model is accompanied by a technical sheet with a detailed drawing of the spare parts. For the latter, it is possible to order them from Iwata, through Stardust.
For artistic drawings on canvas, you will tend to choose a medium or fine airbrush, i.e. the precision models, while for painting miniatures, models or model vehicles, you will choose airbrushes with medium or large nozzles, with buckets of greater capacity.
Let's review the IWATA airbrush models from the cheapest to the most expensive.
The first price is represented by the airbrush for novice, the Iwata Neo with its 0,35 mm nozzle (medium to large size) and a price around 99,00 €.
We go directly to the IWATA Eclipse airbrushes, excellent gravity (0.35 mm) or suction (0.5 mm) airbrushes, all terrains, and particularly suitable for model making. Prices range from 150 to 180 €.
For experts in the field of drawing or painting on miniatures, the Hi-PERFORMANCE series is available, especially with an offset bucket, at around 260 euros, followed by the Hi-Line series, a true high-precision tool for artistic drawings.
The top of the IWATA range is represented until now by the "Custom Micron" series with 0.15 mm nozzles, 0.18 mm for the CM-C2 (the most expensive of the brand with prices over 450 €), and also a 0.23 mm nozzle, less extreme, around 420 €.
First of all, you have to use an IWATA hose because each brand has its own hose and screwing system.
Then, a quick coupling system is highly recommended so that you don't have to screw or unscrew your airbrush!
Choosing a compressor: all types are suitable if you are painting small areas. You have to take into account the size, the noise and the capacity of the air tank. If you are painting miniatures or precision drawings, you can be satisfied with a compressor without a tank.
The art of airbrushing, and first of all the mastery of the tool, its dismantling, cleaning, repairing, reassembling, adjusting, in short... all this is difficult enough, not to want to add to the problems that come from a poor quality airbrush. So, if you can afford it, you choose a branded airbrush.
If, on the other hand, you detect a tendency to not take care of your tools and you are not meticulous, it is better to turn to a first price tool to put it through all sorts of torments
