Headlight Reflector Optical Paint

Headlight reflectors play a crucial role in reflecting and enhancing the light of automotive headlights, thanks to their chrome surface obtained through galvanization or metallization.

When their surface becomes yellowed or rusted, headlights lose efficiency (reflection coefficient) and can no longer provide proper road illumination. The vehicle may consequently fail the technical inspection.

GoChrome XY is the professional version of the decorative GoChrome paint, capable of creating a "reflective mirror" surface in a single layer. It is the only chrome-effect paint for lighthouse dish capable of producing a true reflective effect.

The XY version allows for accelerated drying and increased resistance, especially against friction and scratches.

This paint creates a chrome layer on the surface of headlight reflectors.

The paint is non-toxic and does not contain chrome.

How to redo the interior chroming of headlight reflectors?

1/ Prepare the surface

Simply sand the interior of the headlight optics lightly with a 500-grit abrasive paper. When there is the beginning of oxidation or significant rust presence, it is important to scrape and sand until the rust and oxidized coating disappear.

It is possible to apply a coat of anti-corrosion primer P801 if you want to block rust.

If the interior of the reflector is in good condition, it is possible to clean the interior of a headlight optic with a bit of alcohol and a cloth.

2/ Apply the chroming coat

GoChrome XY paint is a unique paint that creates a pellicular chrome effect. This paint must be applied in a single pass, quickly covering the entire headlight reflector optic with sufficient thickness. The mirror effect is only revealed when applying a thick coat.

3/ Drying

Allow drying in a dry and temperate environment (20-30°C). Do not dry in inhabited indoor spaces. Ensure adequate ventilation.

Safety

This product is extremely flammable, and the vapors are harmful. Keep out of reach of children. Use in an outdoor or well-ventilated space. Wear a respiratory mask for painting.
