CB6 Fast drying basecoat for spraychrome and silvering

CB6/ST8900X: Special undercoat for silvering by Stardust Colors:
Quick drying without baking

Unlike all other types of base clearcoats for chrome plating, CB6 does not require long drying: 3 to 4 hours at 20 °C are sufficient.

The CB6 base is a transparent polyurethane clearcoat containing a new-generation resin that allows:

Very fast drying at room temperature

High thickness and strong filling power

A high level of gloss and hardness

The CB6 base is a sub-layer: it is the first step of the silvering system.

It is particularly suitable for silvering because it creates a very glossy and hard surface, which allows the silver film to produce a perfect mirror effect.

CB6 is extremely hard and shows excellent resistance to chemicals and solvents.

It is easy to apply, levels out well, and allows fast silvering without baking or prolonged drying times.

Mixing:

Mix 1:1 by volume.

Prepare the mixture with maximum precision, stir thoroughly, and allow it to stand for 5 minutes.

Pot life: only 15–20 minutes at 20 °C.

Recommended working temperature: 5 to 35 °C.

Application :

On all primed substrates sanded with P400.

Spray with a 1.3–1.5 mm nozzle at 3 bar.

Apply 1 or 2 coats. One coat is generally sufficient, which represents product savings and reduces through-drying time.

Drying

Thorough drying in 45 minutes at 20 °C.

Silvering possible after a minimum of 2 hours (in case of steaming).

It is recommended to wait at least 3 to 4 hours before silvering; otherwise, there is a risk of reaction and solvent rise during clearcoating.

In the case of oven drying, allow the CB6/ST8900X base to desolventise for at least 10 to 15 minutes beforehand.
