MILITARY GHOST effect scooter paint kit (spray cans) – 16 colours

The Military Ghost scooter paint is a Stardust exclusive developed as a multi-layer painting process, comprising a combination of these three stages. The visual result and effect are created by layering these different coats.

► a military camouflage base coat in your choice of RAL 6003 / 6014 / 7043 / 7046

► a transparent pearlescent interference layer with a choice of reflectance:

BC92 GREEN / BC93 ORANGE / BC94 RED / BC98 BLUE

► a ST822 matt topcoat (gloss level 4)

A matt pearlescent effect 

The final finish offers a unique matt look, with the pearlescent effect remaining subtle thanks to the matt finish. The surface of the scooter reveals a two-tone effect with visible shimmers depending on the light and viewing angle, which emerge over the base colour.

Contents of the MILITARY GHOST three-coat kit

The set includes sufficient product to paint a scooter with numerous fairing components

3 x 400ml cans of ready-to-use solvent-based matt paint (military RAL camouflage colour)

3 x 400ml cans of ready-to-use solvent-based matt GHOST pearlescent interference paint

3 x 400ml 2C* cans of ST822 matt clear coat  (*two-component polyurethane clear coat in dual-chamber cans)

A filling primer in spray cans is not included in the kit. This may be necessary if the surfaces are scratched, damaged or uneven.

Mixing and preparing the products

► The base paints and Ghost paints are already thinned; simply mix thoroughly before use by shaking the can vigorously for 30 seconds.

► The matt clear coat is a two-component polyurethane: press the red button on the can and use the contents within two hours. These are single-use aerosols.

Instructions for applying the products in the scooter spray paint kit

The surface (fairings and scooter parts) must be properly prepared: clean, dry, degreased, dust-free and sanded with P500 grit.

Work at a temperature between 15 and 25°C.

♦ Step 1 – apply two to three thin coats of RAL MILITAIRE base paint, allowing five minutes between each coat. Then apply Step 2 directly wet-on-wet within 30 minutes at 20°C. If this time is exceeded, sand with P500 grit to restore adhesion.

♦ Step 2 – apply three thin coats of GHOST pearlescent interference paint, allowing five minutes between each coat. Then apply Step 3 (clear coat) directly wet-on-wet within 30 minutes at 20°C. After this time, lightly sand with a fine grey abrasive sponge (link) to restore adhesion.

♦ Step 3 – apply the matt varnish in two medium-thickness coats, 10 to 15 minutes apart.

Drying: allow 24 hours to dry before putting the item back into use.
