Crystal fx – Scooter with Crystalizer Effect paint

This paint set is specially prepared for vehicles the size of a scooter

and for users who do not have a spray gun.

It only includes spray paints:

3 x Metallic base sprays, aluminium colour
1 x 500 ml bottle of crystalizer effect
1 x Black base aerosol
3 x Two-components sprays of Candy clearcoat (colour of your choice)

Summary of the steps:

1- Preparation of the bodywork: sanding with 800 grit, degreasing and dusting

2- Application of the aluminium base:  apply in thin passes. Continue until the old paint is completely covered.

3- Clean the surface: wash with dishwashing liquid and sand thoroughly with a green abrasive sponge.

4- Spray the Crystalizer: apply quickly over the entire surface, in one go, to obtain a thick coat. Drain immediately and place in a warm and dry atmosphere.

5. Apply a few ultra-thin passes of black base

6- In the next 2 minutes, wipe gently with a soft and well-worn abrasive sponge to reveal the crystals.

7- After drying, applying the Candy clearcoat in 2 to 5 passes, with a 5-minutes interval between each.

Question:

What is the waiting time between the crystal appearance phase and the black paint layer application phase? Should we wait 24 hours?

Answer:

You just have to wait until the crystallisation is complete. This can take 2 minutes at 35 °C, or 15 minutes at 20 °C. It is not necessary to wait longer.

It is possible to move on to the next step after 24 hours; however, the crystallised surface must be well protected from humidity by keeping the crystallised support in a perfectly dry environment, otherwise the crystals “melt”.
