CAR TUNING KIT - CHROME PAINT

Painting an entire car in chrome paint is a very ambitious project. Applying a neo-chrome paint finish to a vehicle is a multi-stage ‘paint system’. The project requires a certain level of technical expertise, more so than a conventional bodywork paint job, and for this reason it is essential to thoroughly research and fully understand all the specific details of each stage and the instructions; otherwise, the project may fail or result in cosmetic defects.

The Chrome Automotive Kit includes:

Undercoat: 3L Black basecoat (ready-to-use paint)
and 2 CERASTAR 8900X varnish kit, (i.e. 2L of 8900X varnish + 2L H440 hardener)

NeoChrome paint: 3L chrome paint (ready to use)

All products are ready to use, with the exception of ceramic ST8900X varnish, the mixture of which is:
1000g of varnish + 1000g of hardener

(1 part varnish to 1 part hardener by weight – no dilution)

Warning! Pot life of the mixture: 20 minutes.

Application summary:

Step 1: Apply a black base coat (using black basecoat paint – ready-to-use, pre-thinned paint), then leave to dry for 10 minutes; proceed to Step 2 within 30 minutes. (2.5–3 bar / 1.3–1.4 mm nozzle). Apply the gloss clear coat wet-on-wet.

Step 2: Apply a gloss coat of CERASTAR ST8900X, then allow to dry for at least 48 hours at 20°C. (3 bar / 1.3–1.4 mm nozzle). Mix 1:1 without dilution. Please note that the pot life of the mixture is very short: 20 minutes. Do not use the mixture after 20 minutes. Mix only the quantity required. A single coat is sufficient to establish the gloss base before applying the chrome paint. In cold conditions, use a curing oven.

Step 3: Apply the NeoChrome paint in three very thin coats. Avoid thick coats at all costs, and allow the previous coat to evaporate before applying a new one. Do not overload the surface. Ready-to-use single-component paint.

Step 4: Varnishing can be carried out without losing the mirror effect, provided one of the following three options is used: Drying for 5 days at 20°C / or in a drying oven for 3 hours at 60°C / or 10 minutes followed by the application of Silax 

Step 5: Ceramic Varnish, 2 coats applied 10 minutes apart. Given the very short pot life, we recommend preparing a fresh batch for each coat

►The delicate points are the undercoat and the varnishing.

To obtain a colored chrome, just add our candy concentrates to the varnish.

Caution: The implementation of the chrome paint being done obligatorily on a shiny background, not sanding cannot give rise to a guarantee of adhesion. The informed customer takes all the responsibility in the event of detachment following a shock or other event likely to take off the paint.
