Description

The concentrated Candy inks are transparent dyes, which allow to obtain exceptional colors in terms of brightness and depth.
These concentrated dyes are mixed into a clearcoat applied over a metallic or pearlescent background.
Unlike pigments, dyes are liquids that dissolve completely and are the only ones that offer true transparency.
Our 24 color kit offer is made up of 69ml or 250ml flasks with a formula compatible* with all solvent-based products.

All our Candy dyes are UV resistant.
(See the PDF table to download at the bottom of the page)
Their concentration and transparency is maximized.

How to mix and dose

Into a clearcoat

Add 5 to 7%.
Example : 100g of clearcoat + 7% of candy
Then add the amount of hardener in proportion to the clearcoat
example: 50g

then add the thinner, if necessary, taking into account that the Candy already has a diluting effect

Into a binder

Add 5 to 7%.
Example : 100g of binder + 7% of candy
Then add the amount of thinner to the binder
Example : 50g or 70g

What is the difference between a binder and a clearcoat ?

There is no real difference in transparency between a clearcoat and a binder, given the extremely thin thickness applied (around 50 microns for a binder and 75 microns for a clearcoat)
The binder can present a clear advantage, because it allows to multiply the number of coats and to strongly reduce the intervals between each coat (1 to 2 minutes, against five to 10 minutes for a clearcoat)
It is not possible to apply more than two or three coats with a clearcoat without the risk of dripping.
A 1K basecoat is also easier to use because it is single component.

We offer three 1K basecoat binders including a “crystal” binder

For those who work with hydro binders, we offer hydro compatible Candy

*Some binders contain solvents that can react badly with the Candy : when in contact with the binder, the Candy creates small particles. To avoid this reaction defect, it is necessary to change the binder or the clearcoat, or to try to pre-dilute the inks.
