Complete spray kit of prismatic paint – Holographic effect for scooters

The special prismatic effect paint produces an extraordinary visual effect, creating a rainbow-like reflection over the background colour.

The prismatic effect, also called holographic, is visible only under direct light (not diffused light such as cloudy skies). It is perfectly visible under sunlight or at night under street lamps, and invisible in the shade or under cloudy conditions.

Background colour

The background remains visible depending on the number of holographic paint coats. One coat creates a minimal effect, while up to five or six coats can completely cover the background colour.

The background colour is free to choose – green, orange, yellow, red, white, metallic… however, for maximum effect we recommend the classic default black.

Steps and application

1 – Sanding P500. The substrate must be sound, clean, dust-free, degreased and dry.

If the surface is bare material, a specific adhesion primer must be applied first. No primer is necessary on already painted surfaces. The old paint must be lightly sanded with P500 to create adhesion. If the substrate has deep scratches or irregularities, a filler primer must be applied before painting.

2 – Application of the basecoat (colour of choice).

Apply in several thin coats, spaced 2 to 5 minutes apart.

Two options follow :

► Apply the holographic paint directly afterwards, i.e. within 30 minutes and before the basecoat dries (wet-on-wet).

► Or let the basecoat dry, then sand lightly with P500 to apply the following steps later.

3 - Application of the holographic paint.

This very fluid paint must be applied in ultra-thin coats, quickly with the aerosol, to allow proper arrangement of the micro pigments and to avoid runs. Between one and five thin coats may be applied.

Clearcoating must be done wet-on-wet.

It is strongly discouraged to sand the holographic paint before clearcoating.

4 - Application of the clearcoat.

he aerosols are single-use because they are professional 2K aerosols. Once the can is activated with the red button underneath, the contents must be used within the hour.

Applying the bodywork clearcoat is a delicate step :

► Apply 2 coats, 10 minutes apart

► Keep a distance of 12–15 cm from the surface

► Move at a steady, regular speed from left to right and right to left for uniform coverage

► Keep the aerosol perpendicular to the surface

► Apply clearcoat at an ambient temperature between 15 and 30°C

Drying and service time: 24h at 20°C
