CRYSTAL PEARL TOPCOAT

The Crystal Pearl clearcoats create astonishing « interference effect » : the transparent and invisible product displays, depending on where you stand, an irisdescent coloured interference reflect.

The topcoat is made of transparent particles (Synthetic Mica), very pure and shiny, that produce colours with light reflection. The effect can be especially observed under a direct source of light, and even by night.

Crystal pearlescent varnish is a two-component product: for it to harden and dry properly, it is necessary to choose a suitable hardener according to the season and the ambient temperature at the time of application. In cold temperatures, the varnish hardens too slowly and will run, while in hot temperatures, it will harden too quickly and lose its shine, with the possible appearance of an "orange peel" effect.

The Crystal Pearl clearcoats can be applied on any background, and will show a high quality and durable glossiness. They stay completely transparent and don’t change the colour of the background.

The Crystal Pearl topcoats allow many colours combinations, by playing with the different shades of the background. Note: the darker the background, and the more coloured Crystal Pearl effect will be noticed. And on contrary, over a white or light background, the iridescent effect will be as powerful, however the Crystal Pearl’s colours will be more discreet.

Composition : High Solid solvent based clearcoat 

Destination : Automotive, Bike

Particle size of the pearlescent pigments: 10–60 µm (fine, shimmering effect)

Tool: Spray gun, nozzles >1.2 mm to 1.5 mm

Mix : 100 parts clearcoat with 33 parts H432 hardener and 5 to 15 parts thinner.

Application : Apply 1 or 2 coats (wait 5–10 minutes between coats) depending on the desired intensity. 

Important note: The polish may take 5 to 15 minutes to ‘set’. Therefore, if you apply too many layers or make them too thick, the pearlescent particles may 'fall off'.

We therefore recommend applying 2 coats and allowing the recommended interval between coats.

Coverage: 1.5 litres = approx. 10 m² per coat, or 5 m² for a maximum of two coats

Important notes:

The product is transparent and does not alter the colour of the background. However, particularly when working on a dark background, and if too many coats are applied (more than two), the colour will change as more coats are applied.

Do not apply pearlescent varnish over pearlescent paint! The effect will be lost.

Depending on the size of the items to be painted (a small statue or a full-size saloon car), and above all depending on the ambient temperature and application conditions, it is advisable to use the appropriate hardener to achieve a smooth, glossy finish and ensure proper, effective drying.
