Place an order for a Honda paint made according to the colour codes of Asian motorcycles —specifically, the colour codes of Honda motorcycles. This is possible in this category by clicking on the product page below entitled “Honda manufacturer paint in varnish base”. You simply need to select the volume (from 250 ml to 2 L) and the format (spray can or pot), then send us your Honda colour code by email once the order has been placed and paid for.
Your original Honda paint will be mixed immediately by our colourist if the order reaches us before 3 p.m., and it can be dispatched the same day, with delivery scheduled for the next day in France, or within 48/72 hours elsewhere in Europe.
It is imperative that we receive your Honda colour code, without which we cannot mix the paint or determine the formula. The process of identifying the reference of your original colour must be carried out by you. We can only help you validate this code by checking our database via our colourimetry software.
In the following paragraphs, you will find guidance on how to locate your colour reference, as well as details regarding the characteristics of a paint code.
According to our terms and conditions, personalised products—such as manufacturer colours—are non-returnable and non-refundable.
Honda motorcycle colour codes
All our products are solvent-based paints. Unlike water-based paints, solvent-based paints are flammable and hazardous. Although the colour result is identical between water-based and solvent-based paints, the latter are notably easier to apply and offer a much longer lifespan.
Our paints are sold in two forms:
– Pre-diluted paint (for the small 250 ml and 500 ml formats)
– Undiluted paint (to be mixed with thinner, supplied separately)
Honda paint should (preferably) be applied over a homogeneous coloured surface, usually a medium grey. Our colourist can advise which shade of grey is recommended by the Honda manufacturer. We supply primers in pots or sprays, in various grey tones, as well as black and white. In general, factory Honda paint can be applied directly over the original substrate, i.e. the existing paintwork. However, this is not advised if the surface features different colours or visible logos.
If a special background colour is required under your Honda colour code, our colourist will notify you by contacting you. This applies especially to certain special colours known as “tri-layer” finishes. In such cases, you will need to order the specific undercoat.
In addition to the paint itself, it is mandatory to apply a bodywork Topcoat for any motorcycle paintwork. This clearcoat protects the paint as well as the metal components from corrosion, and it creates a high-gloss finish.
The Topcoat must be applied immediately after painting, and in any case no later than 30 minutes afterwards, otherwise the adhesion will be compromised. Our clearcoats are available in aerosols and cans. They are two-component varnishes (with hardener), making them more resistant to abrasion, weathering, and hydrocarbons.
History of the manufacturer Honda
This Japanese company was founded in the 1940s, amidst Japan’s post-WWII reconstruction.
Its founder, Soichiro Honda, was passionate about engines and motorcycles. An engineer by trade, he had been active since 1928, working in his own mechanical workshop. His father owned a bicycle repair shop, where Soichiro began as an apprentice during his youth in Tokyo.
Honda was also an avid motor racing enthusiast and even produced his own racing vehicles. He was himself a driver and was involved in an accident.
Entirely self-taught, he created a piston factory and, despite a difficult start, his determination brought success and fulfilled his dreams. Mr Honda’s first motorcycle was produced in 1949 with a 98 cc 2-stroke engine. In 1951, a new version was released with a 146 cc engine.
Mass production began in 1953, and the motorcycles quickly gained popularity in Japan. This was followed by a period of active participation in domestic and international racing events. Honda would go on to dominate the 125 cc and 250 cc racing categories in the 1960s.
Today, Honda is one of the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturers, with nearly 50 million units sold to date.
Where to find the colour code of your Honda motorcycle ?
To identify your colour code, consult the motorcycle’s original handbook. You may also be able to obtain this information from your dealer.
There is no point looking for the code on the fairing parts—it won’t be there, unlike on cars. Nor will it appear on the vehicle’s registration documents.
Finding your Honda motorcycle’s colour code can be difficult. A great deal of support is available on online Honda forums, in various languages. (English-language forums often contain the most comprehensive information.) This is where we advise you to begin your search.
We are unable to determine the colour code for your motorcycle. Our software contains hundreds of codes, but it is not possible to match a code to a particular model or year of manufacture.
The iconic colours of Honda motorcycles
Some shades of red and certain pearlescent whites are considered emblematic of the Honda brand.
For those unfamiliar with the appearance of a Honda colour code, here is a sample from our database. You will always find the colour code followed by the colour name, brand, and year of production:
You will notice that some codes appear twice—these refer to the first and second layers of a special “tri-layer” colour.
We are always available to offer technical support and advice, and to assist you with your painting project, whether for a simple touch-up or a complete repaint. For technical enquiries, contact us at: tech@stardustcolors.com
