the 3-step process

The OPAL effect, exclusive to Stardust Bike :

These paint cans for bicycles, apply a translucent product, containing microparticles of transparent pearls whose particularity is to reflect the light with two- or three-colored reflections :

In the manner of certain shells, the reflections, or "light colors", display tones of pink, blue, gold, very light and subtle, when the light illuminates them.

Opalescent product appearance

The effect of opalescent paints is particularly interesting on bicycle frames, because the colors vary according to the shapes, and the eye can perceive several colors at a few centimeters distance.

The color is white and can appear slightly grayish in the absence of light.
The surface becomes iridescent when illuminated.

It is after the varnishing that one can fully appreciate the visual effect of the opalescent bicycle paint can.

Some particularities

Since the product is transparent, it is impossible to cover the background if it is not white, no matter how many coats are applied.

The product is relatively liquid, and for this reason it must be applied in very thin and numerous passes.

The application :

The frame of the bicycle must be painted or finished in pure white :

For this you must use a professional product Stardust Bike only, it can be either a white Graphic base paint or a specific primer adapted to the nature of the support.

Note : it is not recommended to strip a bike to repaint it, as it is easier to do a light sanding with 500 paper and paint directly over it, rather than having to redo all the work of priming and painting.

Apply 3 thin veils, every 2 - 5 minutes, then varnish in the process.

Bike varnishing

The varnish ensures the double role of protection of the frame of the bicycle and its paint, and also the aesthetic role of glossy or matt effect, according to the choice of each one.

It is important to use a high quality varnish on a bicycle frame, i.e. with two components, which will ensure maximum resistance to scratches and chips, for this we recommend the bicycle spray clearcoat.
