For example, you can simulate brushed aluminium using the BC60 Micro Aluminium base, or brushed brass using the BC53 base.<br>I recommend choosing metallic colours with a fine grain, which will give a realistic metallic appearance.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stardustcolors.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/BRUSHED-METAL1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"512\" height=\"340\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stardustcolors.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/BRUSHED-METAL1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1126\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stardustcolors.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/BRUSHED-METAL1.jpg 512w, https:\/\/www.stardustcolors.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/BRUSHED-METAL1-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Then I apply the dye and leave it to dry for at least 30 minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s time to <strong>create your brushed metal paint effect<\/strong>.<br>Arm yourself with a <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.stardustcolors.co.uk\/abrasive-sheet\/1009-abrasive-sponges-4-different-types.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">medium-grit abrasive fibre<\/a><\/span><\/strong>.<br>Personally, I apply this fibre using only the weight of my hand, and by choosing the direction of my brushing, I create the brushing pattern.<br>Be sure to stick to your chosen brushing direction, with each pass going from edge to edge without stopping \u2018in the middle of the piece\u2019.<br>Do not press too hard, otherwise you risk removing too much metallic colour.<br>The idea is not to reveal the primer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">You have created \u2018streaks\u2019 in your metallic colour.
